Our topic this time was The Wise Men based on Matthew 2: 1-12

After the usual drink, biscuits and games the story was explored by Jim using a series of pictures of the wise men seeing the new star, following it, meeting Herod and finally getting to Bethlehem and the Baby Jesus.

Everybody then gathered around a huge table to make things for themselves ready for worship: a telescope, a crown, one or more of the three gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.  Also the children made a triangular Christmas card, that would stand up like a pyramid, to send to a friend.

In worship a big star appeared over a door and we followed it into the foyer whilst singing Come and join the celebration.  In the foyer we met King Herod and his soldier guard (puppets) who eventually sent us on our way again.  The star had moved to be above the crib scene in chapel and so we sang again as we did our ‘camel walk’ to the crib scene.  There we all knelt before the baby Jesus and prayed.  After this we finished with a delicious meal for the children, mums and volunteers.
