This was the occasion to celebrate Messy Christmas. The craft activities involved making crowns for kings, making pretty Christmas present parcels, making decorative Christmas paper, making a sky of stars for the astrologers to follow and making telescopes to view the stars. A large trunk of materials gave ample opportunity to dress up in a variety of approppriate costumes.

The service centred around the journey of the kings to see the baby Jesus. One of the stars of the show was a large camel  for the long journey. The other “star” was King Herod who showed his true desire to harm the “child born to be king”. The atmosphere was very tense with singing and with shouting down Herod. The scene ended with a real mother and child to whom the gifts were brought.

After such an ective afternoon all were ready for a hearty meal.
