Ladies Group enjoy Iceland

Where shall we go today?

What about a trip to Iceland for a change?

We were definitely up for a challenge.  So we donned our horned helmets, boarded the long boats and set sail to follow the Viking Trail. Well, perhaps not quite like that, but David Horner’s most interesting, beautifully illustrated and highly informative talk describing his family’s recent holiday experiences in that country – the glaciers, the volcanoes, black sands, soaring geysers, waterfalls which surpass both the Niagara and Victoria Falls in height and force, together with the vibrant coloured flora, historic Turf Houses, Fulmars, Arctic Terns and Seals – made for a truly exciting afternoon.

There were interesting questions posed, which David answered extremely well and his wife’s specially-made traditional delicacy accompanied a welcome hot drink. “Wedded Bliss” is that cake’s English translation and the recipe is printed separately.

The family holiday reminiscences of that magical location held twenty-two ladies agog, whilst witnessing the splendours of the dramatic Icelandic         landscape from the warmth and comfort of the Wesley Room.

A very special “Thank you” to David and his wife Natalie for sharing these holiday adventures with us and extending our knowledge of yet another part of our wonderful world.
