An Italian Journey

Join a pilgrimage to Rome & Assisi in September 2015 with Revd David Griffiths & Revd Graham Smith.

In September 2015 Revd David Griffiths & Revd Graham Smith, previously Methodist Minister at St John’s Horwich, will be leading a Pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi. St Paul says in the Acts of the Apostles “After I have been to Jerusalem I must see Rome.” Well whether or not you have been to Jerusalem, Rome and Assisi are certainly significant places that have shaped Western Christianity and are worthy of a pilgrimage to encounter some of the great saints whose  lives have inspired Christians through the ages. After flying from Manchester the Pilgrimage will begin in Rome. Focussing on the city’s patron saints Peter and Paul, a comprehensive programme of sightseeing will include the visits to all the major sites of ancient and imperial Rome and the Vatican City with an opportunity to participate in the weekly papal audience with Pope Francis. Folllowing this, we shall travel to the beautiful hilltop town of Orvieto before we arrive to spend three nights in the medieval walled city of Assisi, home of St. Francis, set amidst the peace and tranquillity of the Umbrian Countryside. There we will visit the famous Basilica of St Francis, the church of St Clare and tour a local winery! You can get a pilgrimage brochure by phoning 01204 469621 or e-mailing David at dandbgriffiths@googlemail.com
